TAGAYTAY SUNSET

I took these photos at the Peoples Park in the Sky in Tagaytay City last May.

We went there for the annual bureau meeting of the Southern Luzon Bureau.

My First Mayon Shot

Mayon Volcano

I’ve thought of it many times but never really did it. But one Sunday afternoon, I finally decided to bring a camera and take a picture of the 2,462-meter Mayon Volcano from the Lignon Hill.

I was inspired by Mayon photos taken by award-winning photographers that I wanted to have a shot of it too.

But taking that shot would mean carrying the camera while walking from the foot to the top of the 143-meter hill.

That was my hesitation.

I was used to walking in the hill since I’ve been doing it for three months now to exercise, but I have never really tried walking with a camera on my back.

I figured it would be an added weight to the already overweight me.

I didn’t plan on sending this picture to the office for publication, but when I did, it almost made it to the frontpage of Sunday’s paper.

Maybe I won’t stop taking pictures of Mayon until it finally lands on the frontpage–I hope.

And if anybody is reading this, pls vote for Mayon Volcano and the other three nominees of the Philippines to the New 7 Wonders of Nature. http://www.new7wonders.com/

All four nominees from the Philippines are included in the top 10 live ranking as of Monday.

Mayon Volcano was ranked ninth.

Nominations will be until December 31.
